Another sucessful project for Enerflex

During 2008 Enerflex requested BSC to overview their drawings and design for the Colongra Gas Compressor Station and Delivery Station in NSW. This worked out well with BSC helping Enerflex achieve a successful project.

This led to a contract later in the year for BSC to provide full structural documentation for total plant foundations and exhaust stack designs for two compressor stations at Banana and Rolleston in Queensland.

Although the two plants are the same, the foundations could not be more different. At Banana there was about a metre of topsoil over solid rock; whilst at Rolleston the topsoil overlayed silty clay.

Both sites are subject to high wind loads and possible seismic loads in addition to the structures considerable weight. To ensure no movement between the facility and the gas pressure pipes large concrete pads were used at Banana and substantial bored pier foundations at Rolleston.

Forensic Investigation

Over the Christmas semester break many universities carry out maintenance work. BSC was engaged by the AC Group to assist in repair to an outdoor patio area which was leaking badly into an auditorium below. No existing building plans could be found.

By a series of inspections, coring of concrete and structural computations, a unique solution was achieved within a strict timeline.
